The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, along with the Seattle Children's Research Institute Center for Child Health, Behavior & Development, invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor, without tenure by reason of funding, on the faculty-scientist track. Anticipated start date is Fall 2024 - Summer 2025. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank .

Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The candidate is expected to sustain an externally funded research program at Seattle Children's and the University of Washington in the area of sleep health disparities and more generally in epidemiology and social determinants of health. The applicant will also be expected to contribute to our department's teaching and mentoring mission.

This position provides an opportunity to work at The Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD) at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Applicants will have a faculty appointment at the University of Washington and will join a group of highly collaborative research scientists at CHBD with expertise in pediatrics, health services research, psychiatry, psychology, biostatistics, and epidemiology. SCRI is ranked 4th in NIH pediatric research funding and provides a rich, vibrant, and collaborative environment. SCRI has excellent facilities that foster close relationships between clinical, translational, and basic science researchers. In 2023, SCRI had more than $253 million in extramural research expenditures (including over $120 million in federal funding). With a workforce greater than 2,400, the research institute fosters a cutting-edge academic environment, supporting multidisciplinary research, collaboration, and professional development. SCRI is organized into interdisciplinary research centers and has many resources for investigators including a statistical and analytic core, research computing core, pilot funding, and clinical and behavioral laboratory space to conduct study visits.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professor: $13,750 - $16,667 per month ($165,000 - $200,004 annually) Professor: $16,667 - $25,000 per month ($200,004 - $300,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have earned a PhD or foreign equivalent with documented expertise in health services research, health policy, epidemiology, psychology, child and human development, sociology, or other relevant fields, with the specific research focus in the area of sleep health disparities and more generally in epidemiology and social determinants of health.

The applicant must already be an Associate Professor or Professor or equivalent or soon be expected to transition to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Successful applicants will have a history of and existing research funding and evidence of mature and consistent scholarship.
