Job Summary:
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will play a pivotal role in our executive team, overseeing and managing all financial aspects of the gallery. Your strategic financial leadership will be vital in ensuring the gallery's financial stability and growth, aligning with our mission and goals. This role offers flexibility in location, with options in either New York City, NY, or Beverly Hills, CA. We are looking for a candidate with a robust background in finance, accounting, and strategic planning, preferably in the luxury sector, along with a passion for the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement financial strategies that align with our gallery's mission, objectives, and growth.
Collaborate with the executive team to create long-term financial plans and budgets.
Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
Financial Management:
Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk to maintain the gallery's financial health.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards.
Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets.
Fundraising & Revenue Generation:
Support fundraising efforts and grant applications by providing financial insights and projections.
Develop strategies for revenue generation, including partnerships, sponsorships, and other income streams.
Monitor and report on financial performance related to fundraising and revenue activities.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of finance staff.
Provide guidance and support to other departments on financial matters.
Financial Systems & Processes:
Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Implement and maintain financial software and tools to streamline operations and reporting.
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or similar role, preferably within the arts or luxury sector. Prior gallery experience is not required.
Familiarity with tax laws, shipping regulations, and handling consignments, international tax, and imports.
Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
