SALARY RANGE The starting salary range for these positions are: Civil Engineer I; $67,120 - $83,900 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $100,680, annualized. Civil Engineer II; $75,920 - $94,900 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $113,880, annualized. Civil Engineer III: $87,440 - $109,300 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $131,160, annualized. Civil Engineer Senior I; $93,920 - $117,400 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $140,880, annualized. Civil Engineer Senior II: $100,400 - $125,500 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $150,600, annualized. JOB POSTING This position will be filled at either the Civil Engineer I, II, III, Senior I or Senior II level, contingent upon the skills and experience of the selected candidate. JOB PURPOSE: The Civil Engineer (I - Senior II) working in Engineering & Project Management performs basic to advanced (at higher levels) calculations, analysis, design, and construction support in the competency areas of geotechnical, hydraulic, structural, water resource and dam safety and assists with project management activities related to operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of hydroelectric generation facilities, switchyards, substations, parks, hatcheries, water and waste water systems and treatment plants. Depending on level, the position requires entry-level to independent judgement/knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures, including materials, equipment, and techniques, used in professional level work in the field of civil engineering and project management. At level I, the position works under close or continuing supervision and requires limited exercise of judgment when developing designs and design criteria, determining methodology and developing alternatives. At level II, the position will prepare scopes of work and cost estimates. Work is performed with technical guidance with review from supervisor or higher level engineers. At level III, the position will act as the design engineer and/or project manager for moderately complex projects. Additional responsibilities will include directing consultants, crew superintendents, foreman and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Post-Secondary Education: Bachelor's degree (B. S., B. A.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with experience in hydropower infrastrucure and/or with an electric utility are preferred. Level II: Requires a minimum of two (2) years' experience performing civil engineering related to hydropower generation, power distribution, and water resources fields of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of basic civil engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specification, and drawings, participation in data collection and field research or inspections. Level III: Requires a minimum of four (4) years' experience performing civil engineering related to power generation, dam safety, power distribution, and water resources of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of fundamental civil engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; development of design alternatives. Senior I: Requires 6+ years experience performing civil engineering related to hydroelectric generation facilities, switchyards, substations, parks, hatcheries, water and waste water treatment plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning; and proper identification of appropriate codes and standards for a wide variety of situations. Senior II: Requires 8+ years performing civil engineering related to hydroelectric generation facilities, switchyards, substations, parks, hatcheries, water and waste water treatment plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of complex engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning and proper identification of appropriate codes and standards for a wide variety of situations.
