DEPUTY SHERIFF

NEXT TESTING DATE:  November 2, 2024

Testing for this position will be held at the above date at the Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office Training Center located at 120 Sprocket Ln., Grand Cane, LA 71032.  

Minimum Requirements

• Must be 21
• Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License
• Be a United States Citizen
• Must have earned a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• No felony convictions or crimes of violence

Job description/General Duties

The Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office is hiring for the position of Deputy Sheriff.  Deputies are assigned duties at the discretion of the Sheriff and based on the needs of the department.  Possible assignments for Deputies include patrol, corrections or special services assignment.  This is a Law Enforcement position which will require the candidate, once hired, to successfully complete a POST Certification Course at an accredited police academy of the Sheriff's choosing.  This course is a mentally and physically challenging 15 week requirement.  Once completed, the certified Deputy will be eligible for further assignment opportunities within the department.

Salary

• Entry Level: $53,700 yr.
• (*After POST Certification.  Includes $7,200 state supplemental pay)
