Finance Manager, US GTB Product Control - New York, NY

Purpose:

  • Contributes to the overall success of GBM Product Control in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager, US GTB Product Control, the incumbent is primarily responsible for daily P&L reporting, daily/monthly accounting, balancing and reconciliations for US Global Transaction Banking. 
  • The incumbent will interact with a number of functional areas within and outside of Product Control. The key internal relationships outside of Product Control will be with the Front office desk of GTB, GWO, GFRT and TFRM.


Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with front office trading personnel in producing daily, weekly and monthly PL results and analysis.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports to satisfy various financial and regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies arising from incorrect booking of trades or system errors. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
  • Ensures that the accounts and financial records of US Global Transaction Banking (BNS Houston & New York Agency) businesses are being maintained according to International Financial Reporting Standards, policies and procedures set by Scotiabank Executive Offices and the local regulators.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 


Education & Experience :

  • Prior experience in Product Control, Financial Reporting or Audit is preferred. 
  • Deep payments expertise and acumen (Letters of Credit, Trade Finance, Cash Management, 15c3-3).
  • In depth experience with Finacle, Alteryx, PowerBI, Peoplesoft, Excel & Oracle Financial Accounting Hub
