Job Description

What To Expect
The Quality Technician will ensure that all material, both in-process and incoming, meets Tesla’s quality requirements and specifications. This person will be responsible for identifying quality issues within the manufacturing environment, leading investigations, root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material. This person will work closely with cross- functional teams including production and engineering to escalate and maintain rapid response to quality issues with supporting and pertinent data and drive continuous improvements to the production process.

What You'll Do

Perform various inspections, quality process audits and testing to evaluate product and process performance and disposition of non- conforming materialDrive root cause investigations for warranty, in-process and incoming quality issues, corrective actions implementation, and follow- up on countermeasure robustnessWork with engineering teams to validate new product or vehicle designs, equipment, and processesDevelop quality inspections methods, criteria, instructions for quality containments and quality action noticesAnalyze production data to identify potential non-conforming or at-risk materialDevelop best practices and use lessons learned for future problem solving and decision makingWork with cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals

What You'll Bring

Experience with quality and process control in a high-volume manufacturing environmentUtilize applicable standards and systems to reference product specifications and customer requirementsHighly skilled in problem solving and root cause analysis techniquesCreate and manage production change approvals and/or deviationsAbility to use a range of basic test and measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc. to collect, interpret and report results of data analysisStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience in Microsoft 365 including Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

Essential Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrainFrequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a dayClimb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearingWearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
