Role Title: Senior Chemical Engineer – Process Development 

Role Function and Group: Manufacturing Technology

Position Summary:

As a Senior Chemical Engineer – Process Development at Infineum in Linden, NJ, your job is to define, optimize, and safeguard our products and manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Manufacturing Technology Manager for Driveline and Viscosity Modifier (VM) additives, you will work closely with counterparts in all internal functions (Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, etc.) across all regions on strategic projects and base business support. Responsibilities include new product development from ideation through commercial delivery, leading continuous improvement initiatives that deliver cost savings and sustainability credits, and providing process/product expertise that advances Infineum’s position as a world-class specialty chemicals company.

 

What we can expect from you:

  • Support Infineum’s global manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement in areas of product quality, process safety, supply reliability, cost savings, and sustainability
  • Provide internal and external customers clear and timely technical data, advice, and solutions as subject-matter expert for Infineum’s Driveline and VM process technology
  • Manage and/or support plant trials, manufacturing site approvals, raw material and supplier qualifications, process optimizations, specification setting, scale-up activity, and new product/process development projects
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and knowledge management/sharing across teams and locations
  • Leverage external networks (universities, vendors, tollers, etc.), process improvement methodologies, and Infineum’s advanced R&D facilities and digital tools to efficiently deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Travel (up to 10%) to production facilities, suppliers, third-party service providers, industry conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Oversee safe and efficient lab activity as supervisor for an R&D Technician at our business & technology center in Linden, NJ

 

A successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Manufacturing experience (>3 years) in a chemical plant or similar industrial setting – process engineering experience is preferred
  • Project management or other cross-functional or interdisciplinary coordination experience preferably in technical services, process improvement, or process development
  • High degree of autonomy and ambition, strong technical and business acumen, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective communication, influencing, relationship-building, and leadership skills
  • Ability to collect and interpret data and apply expert judgement in problem-solving and decision-making
